Pre-production in documentary filmmaking

Read through the following links thoroughly (this should take more than the usual 5 minutes people devote to web-surfing a single train of thought).  After serious consideration, meet up with your group and discuss your potential roles in the pre-production process, and state your preferences in the comments below.

  1. For this project, I hope to take photos and interview those involved with it. I would also like to help organize information and mark the best places for taking pictures.

  5. I hope to film the convent for the project. The pictures we just saw are very interesting and inspiring; they have so much to tell about the school and filming would add to the quality of the convent. It'd really show the other students how beautiful and historic it is because not many of them do know.

  6. For this project, I would be interested in interviewing, taking photos, and working on video editing. It would be a great experience working with the people who have a lot of knowledge on our schools history.

  8. For this project, I would very like to work on video editing. I have the website at home and have yet to learn how to use it. I hope that by editing the video in this class I will be able to see the uncut scenes, all the other awesome things about the school that may not be in the final video.

  9. I really want to tour the convent and take photos. I have always been interested in the history the convent holds, and I would love to take the opportunity to portray its historical value through photos and still shots. Photography is the one thing that I am confident about doing in this class.

I would love to take very awesome b-roll for this film. The campus is so captivating and beautiful. It's a perfect scenery for b-roll, and I would be honored to tape that for this project.

  11. I would be interested in doing filming, editing, and interviews for this project. I think it's very important to capture what people in the neighborhood and at the school feel about the convent and its historical impact.

  12. I'd love to work with research, photography, and video editing on the convent. Panoramas of the scenery would make awesome shots; and I'd be able to work and edit clips, although not with Final Cut, but with Sony Vegas Pro.

  14. I would prefer to take pictures, researching, and to tour the convent to take a look at it first-hand. However, I would be able to do anything that is needed to be done - taking pictures and research is just a preference.
