Self-assess

By now many of you have had the opportunity to work on different projects for class, but might be unfamiliar with other facets, especially involving filming and editing.  Check the Media Arts and Applications class folder on the shared drive for a document called "Media Arts and Applications Skills checklist."  Please use this checklist and respond in the comments on the following:

The holidays and media

How does media coverage/portrayal of the holidays affect the way you perceive and celebrate them (i.e. Black Friday, the Christmas hype, the lack of coverage for specific holidays)?

Legal Issues

I dont think anything has ever happened such as these two cases but if it were to happen our school might have different views on the two cases.As for the first case i think the school staff would not be understanding and they would say it is distracting our learning and we would be threatened with detentions until we took of our bracelets. For the second case i think since this is an all girls school and we would be promoting girls to stay abstinent, they wouldnt be against it. Either way, if they were against these two cases i wouldnt protest but i would get a couple of girls and myself and handle it maturley and go speak to ms harrison and tell her our ponint of view.

I enjoyed reading these articles. However, I was disppointed with the court's desicion with the Haywood case. I don't agreed with the principal's desicion. I believe he should have at least conversed with the students before changing their article. If it were me in that situation, I would have considered legal action. However, I did enjoy the Tinker case, and I commend the students and their families for being brave enough to stand up for themselves and their rights for the first ammendment.

Getting started with Publisher

After reading through and watching the video, open up publisher and start playing around with it.  Use your interview assignment from the weekend to get started.  Once you feel more comfortable, pair up and try to place several items into one document, as you would see in a regular or school-based newspaper. Check in with Ms. Sitler to show her your progress over the next couple of days.

Captiom : Victory at last!_After 10 years of hard work the Cards all star basketball team finally won the men’s varsity championship game. On September 22, 2010 the whole Longview High school cheered in excitement for Joseph Boutelli’s winning shot. After the game Boutelli told us “Longview High has waited 10 years for this day to come! It has been through hard work
And dedication but we finally did it !” After a long season of being undefeated in season games, regionals, and the semi-finals the Cards all star basketball team was now able to claim bragging rights that they beat out 20 other schools !

Tyrone James

Tyrone is on a team called the Blue Devils at the University of Orlando and he hasn’t played much

in the games but when the clock was ticking he ran for the ball and shot as fast as he could and

scored for his team. Tyrone was one of the top 5 basketball players on his team in high school and

continued onto college with a scholarship and a dream. After the game we met up with Tyrone

James and he said “I feel amazing, I can’t believe I got the ball in the hoop under so much

pressure and with such little time left, I’m really excited and I’m going to celebrate with the team

right after this”. It was a great game and we hope to see more from him and his teammates.

New Mexico High School's track star, Guadalupe Martinez, with a face of determination as she approaches the finish line. She has been waiting for this moment after a very long time. “Helmet Catch”

Giants’ wide-receiver David Tyree catches football with helmet for first down.

Patriot defender Rodney Harrison attempted to swipe the ball from Giants wide-receiver David Tyree, but Tyree managed to swing his right arm over and hold the football against his helmet for a first down.
